Mesmerized By the Summer Heat Wave

There are so many important memories that happened today, June 24, 2014 A lot of happenings, a lot to remember, time well spent. I will savor the moments first and foremost and let it go by.

However, I cannot let this pass by. How about this stunning picturesque of sunset. The sun goes down finally at 9:43 pm. I wish it's about 9:24 pm instead but you know there's no golden sunset here except if probably if we go to Saharan desert. By the way they don't have this kind of unique sunset where I live. Ha ha ! If you know what I mean.

I was invited by my niece Clarizze on her Graduation ceremony (Commencement Exercises) at Tidemark. Although I have so many things to do at home and the tasks, chores should be halt for few hours and why not it's time to relax and breathe and what could be happening at the downtown area, at the Tidemark (once the first local cinema of Campbell River). My husband is reminded how old that moviehouse is. He said that he went there to watch a movie in 1960. When I first arrived here in 1992 Campbell River, Tidemark is still the cinema I know and beside the building is the local Chinese restaurant. Along with the oldest North Island College where I took few  hours of "Food Safe Course." There, I also took exam and passed with flying colors. Our instructor was also a professional Chef and his life story about his career is somewhat colorful and funny. Great to know that he's got sense of humor. I like people with great sense of humor. You wont grow old when you are around people who knows how to laugh.

There was a traffic jam along the commercial area at Shoppers Row. There were too many shoppers browsing coming in and out of the Trading Post owned by Bill. It was a super busy day, abnormally busy. Wow! I first thought we wont have a vacant parking space at Tyee Plaza. I told my husband we can park at the Art Gallery but the parking hour wont be enough. Anyway, you don't have to pay parking space by the hour here in Campbell River. Thank goodness it's not the mainland here. Imagine how crazy would it be.

Ngek! We arrived late! No we are not late. It's just that the Graduate students wearing cap and gowns are still there outside of the lobby at Tidemark. Then the lady courteoulsy asked us to enter the door at the right. Then I saw my niece. Oh my! people are looking at us. We're late and it makes me cringe feeling ashamed. Meron ba ako non? Feeling shy and ashamed, namumula ang face ko. My husband Lorne and son Tyrel found empty seats at the right side of the theatre. I followed them. I was not seated firmly on the cushioned seat when a lady asked me and my husband and son to move to another seat at the back because there is that number 8 intended for Grad. students. So we moved to the back with a sign STOPS HERE in big bold black letter on white bond. Really? What's that supposed to mean? Truly sweet stops? Ahahahaha!

NOTE: Did you know that there was once a SWEET STOP Shop at the Shoppers Row (rather at Tyee Plaza) before where the owner sells chocolate fudge and delicious ice cream. Twenty years ago they had that sweet's shop but that unit is now occupied by Shopper's Drug Mart (Pharmacy). SWEET STOP and FIELDS Department Store. There are a lot of changes at Tyee Plaza and Shoppers Row. Many stores closed down and replaced with new stores and boutiques to cater to their new customers.  Many pioneers moved out of the city and there are new arrivals of new faces and immigrants.

My God! Everyone's so quiet waiting for the ceremony to begin. Then few minutes more, the lady announced the opening speech, we sang the national anthem of Canada... "Oh Canada, our Home and native land ... " (Oy memorized ko yan kahit hindi ako Canadian). I think of Canada as the Mountain Province which is the upper northern part of the Philippines, where the natives of the Philippines communicate in English language rather than Tagalog.

Hundred years! How many changes that took place in the Himalayan Mountain ranges and you'll be amazed by reading the many gradual changes during the century by reading the historical data and story in the archive of National Geographic magazine. Unbelievable but it's true. Canada belongs to Philippines.

Oops don't want you to have a revolution. Be civilized.

To be continued. :: :: ::
